3 Easy Recipes for Post-J2J Recovery

It’s not long now! The Jetty 2 Jetty Fun Run will run for the 31st time on the 16th July 2017, so you’re probably feeling great and ready to hit the course that winds around Redcliffe Peninsula. But what about after the race? Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, good post-race recovery is a must for all runners taking part in the Jetty 2 Jetty Fun Run near Brisbane.

If you’re thinking of undertaking the Bupa 10km event in this year’s Jetty 2 Jetty Fun Run, a long run can have a big impact on your body and cause dehydration, exhaustion and muscle inflammation- so it’s important to follow up immediately with good nutrition.

Bupa believes in living healthy and active lifestyles, and brings us 3 nutritional recipes to help re-fuel and restore every kind of runner after the Jetty to Jetty Fun Run.

Razzle Dazzle Smoothie

This recipe harnesses the power of highly nutritious Coconut Milk- which is rich in fibre, vitamins C, E, B1, B3, B5 and B6 and minerals including iron, calcium and magnesium! Not to mention the immune system support and anti-inflammatory magic of pineapple. The perfect recovery smoothie for the whole body after your Fun Run in Brisbane.

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

1 Cup frozen raspberries, plus more for garnish

1/2 Cup Frozen Mango

1/2 Cup pineapple

1 Cup coconut milk

Directions:

1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend on high until smooth.

2. Pour into 2 glasses and add ice if needed to make cold to taste.

 

Blueberry, Banana & Green Tea Smoothie

Packed with Potassium, Vitamin B3 and Antioxidants, this super simple smoothie is a nutritional powerhouse and oh so yummy too.

Serves: 1

Ingredients:

1/2 cup water

1 green tea bag

2 tbsp honey

1 ½ cup frozen blueberries

½ banana

1 ½ cup soy milk

Directions:

1. Boil water in kettle, then measure approximately ½ cup of boiling water and place in bowl. Add green tea bag and allow to brew for 3 minutes. Remove tea bag and stir honey into tea until it dissolves.

2. Combine berries, banana and milk in blender and blend until smooth.

3. Add green tea in blender and blend on high until smooth. Pour smoothie into glass and enjoy!

 

It’s Easy Bein’ Green Smoothie

Want the health kick but still have a sweet tooth? This smoothie combines the delicious sweetness of frozen mango and the goodness of baby spinach- which is full of vitamin B1, zinc and protein.

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

1 ½ cup baby spinach

1 cup frozen mango

1 banana

Juice of 1 lemon

Directions:

1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend on high until smooth.

2. Pour into 2 glasses and bon a petit! There’s a quick nutritional kick for you in minutes.
