The Leukaemia Foundation – Vision to Cure, Mission to Care

The Leukaemia Foundation is the only charity dedicated to improving the health outcomes for all blood cancer patients. This is achieved through providing a range of free support services for patients to give them the best chance of survival and improve their quality of life, as well as investing in blood cancer research to find improved treatment options. How you can help

In 2017 Jetty 2 Jetty is raising money for The Leukaemia Foundation. A portion of every registration fee will be donated directly to this very important cause. In addition, entrants can choose to donate to The Leukaemia Foundation during the registration process.

Blood Cancer and the Leukaemia Foundation

Blood cancer is the third biggest cause of cancer death in Australia, claiming more lives than breast or skin cancer.

While more children are surviving, almost half of adult blood cancer patients will lose their life.

Blood cancer accounts for around 10% of all cancers diagnosed each year.

Around 35 Australians are diagnosed each day with a blood cancer – such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma – and the number is growing. Lymphoma is the most commonly diagnosed blood cancer in Australia, and the sixth most common form of cancer.

What Do We Do?

In 2015/16:

  • We invested $2.3 million in life-saving blood cancer research
  • We provided 777 families with more than 52,500 nights of free accommodation in our villages and motels located near treatment centres
  • Our free patient transport vehicles travelled more than 1,500,000km and transported more than 15,000 passengers to hospitals and other appointments

Support The Leukaemia Foundation Today

The Leukaemia Foundation receives no direct government support and relies on the generosity of the community to help patients beat their blood cancer.

Every dollar donated today will take us close to the cures of tomorrow.

$27 can provide a cancer information pack to help a family prepare for the challenges that follow a blood cancer diagnosis

$36 can give emotional support after diagnosis to help someone through the shock and distress

$52 can support someone during a hospital visit from our qualified cancer support team

$80 can give a regional family a place to stay for a night to keep them together during treatment

$120 can fund a research scholarship for a day to support a major blood cancer project
